A 20-year-old legacy ERP (unnamed) with siloed data across four business unitsDynamics 365 Finance

business units unified

Challenge: Lee Company, a Nashville-based HVAC, plumbing and electrical contractor with 1,600+ employees, ran four business units on a 20-year-old ERP whose siloed data and inability to scale blocked economies of scale and resource sharing. The company targets growth from $370 million to over $700 million in revenue by 2030.

Solution: Hitachi Solutions delivered an enterprise-wide implementation, dubbed Project Atlas, on Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations with dual-write integration to Dynamics 365 Sales, Dynamics 365 Field Service for dispatch and scheduling, and Engage for Construction plus Power Apps for construction project management and field timekeeping.

Results: Four business units were unified on one platform, annual managed services spend fell by two-thirds, and a new projection model supports revenue forecasting into 2026. Field dispatch now uses machine-learning-based smart routing and skills-based technician assignment.

We had four diverse business units and a lot of those processes, particularly within the different service business units, were disparate. It didn't allow us to achieve any economy of scale, and it didn't allow us to share resources.

Challenge: Strike Energy Services, a Calgary-based energy service and construction company with more than 1,000 employees across 14 Western Canadian locations, ran an ERP over 10 years out of date with no standardised processes or single system of record, leaving it unable to see which projects were profitable or at risk.

Solution: After earlier failed attempts with other vendors, Strike engaged Hitachi Solutions to implement Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 with Sales and Marketing, HR, Finance, Project Management and Accounting, and Supply Chain Management modules, plus Hitachi's Build//AX construction solution and ADP Workforce Now for payroll, under its POST standardisation programme.

Results: The implementation completed in six months and within 2 percent of the planned budget, with functionality rolled out in phased waves from June to September. Standardised processes replaced siloed business-unit practices, real-time project cost information became available, and the company anticipates a 20 to 30 percent revenue gain.

Trimac Transportation

Salesforce (front-end CRM, never integrated with the existing Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations back end)Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement

Trimac now runs its lead-to-cash cycle on a single platform, with digitised contract management and automatic email renewal notifications generated 30 to 60 days before contract expiry. The implementation also laid the foundation for a self-service customer portal covering online orders, shipments and invoices.

Challenge: Trimac, a North American bulk carrier with over 4,000 team members, ran Salesforce as a front-end CRM that was never integrated with its Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations back end, leaving the lead-to-cash cycle disjointed. Its contract management process was largely paper-based, with the legal team handling paperwork manually.

Solution: Hitachi Solutions Canada migrated Trimac from Salesforce to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, integrated with the existing Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations system and supplemented by transportation-specific partner IP. Contract management was digitised within the same platform.

Results: Trimac now runs its lead-to-cash cycle on a single platform, with digitised contract management and automatic email renewal notifications generated 30 to 60 days before contract expiry. The implementation also laid the foundation for a self-service customer portal covering online orders, shipments and invoices.

What we wanted to do was put in place something that fits with the rest of our applications and gives our users a better experience that integrates with our workflow.

over 125,000 homes

Challenge: Clarion Housing Group, the UK's largest social housing provider with over 125,000 homes, ran more than 50 separate front and back-office systems, creating siloed processes, no single view of customer, property and contract, and heavy dependency on specialised teams.

Solution: Hitachi Solutions implemented a single platform combining Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement, Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, and its Essentials for Housing solution, after shadowing frontline staff from caretakers to repair operatives to ground the design in real workflows.

Results: More than 50 systems were consolidated onto one platform, giving a single view of customer, property and contract, reduced end-to-end case handling time, and multi-channel integration across post, telephony, social and digital. Direct debit requests that previously took multiple days across departments can now be set up on first contact.

We wanted this transformation project to change the way we work and the services we offer, and we needed a system that would enable it. It was never a pure technology project.
