Overview
Airwallex is a global financial infrastructure company, founded in Melbourne in 2015 and now headquartered across Singapore and San Francisco, that provides multi-currency business accounts, international payments, corporate cards and embedded finance APIs. It serves more than 200,000 businesses spanning software companies, eCommerce retailers, travel agencies, wholesalers, marketplaces and other cross-border businesses.
The platform lets businesses receive funds in 20+ currencies through local bank details, send international transfers to 200+ countries at interbank exchange rates, and issue multi-currency corporate cards with spending controls. A spend-management layer covers expense tracking, employee reimbursement, bill payment and purchase orders, while a payments-acceptance layer supports checkout, payment links and 160+ local payment methods for online merchants. Platform APIs also let software companies embed connected accounts, programmatic payouts and card issuing into their own products.
Airwallex integrates directly with Xero and NetSuite, with accounting data imported automatically and expenses and bills synced back, and connects to QuickBooks Online through an OAuth-based bank feed. The company holds SOC 2 Type II, PCI DSS Level 1 and ISO 27001 certifications and is regulated in the UK as an Electronic Money Institution.
