Overview
Power Automate Process Mining (formerly Process Advisor) is Microsoft's process and task mining capability built into Power Automate within Microsoft Power Platform. It extracts event-log and activity-log data from an organization's systems of record -- including Dynamics 365 apps, Dataverse, and other databases -- and turns it into visual process maps, KPIs, and variant analysis showing how a process actually runs, as opposed to how it is assumed to run.
The capability splits into process mining, aimed at organization-wide processes such as order-to-cash or accounts receivable using system event logs, and task mining, which records desktop actions to analyze how individual employees perform specific steps. Process maps support three techniques -- discovery (building a model from event data), conformance (checking that model against an intended process), and enhancement (using conformance findings to improve the process) -- alongside prebuilt KPIs, rework/loop detection, and variant comparison. Data connects through Power Query, so any source Power Query can reach -- Dataverse via OData, SQL Server, Text/CSV, and connectors published for systems such as SAP and Salesforce -- can in principle feed a process.
Process mining is licensed per user through Power Automate Premium (from $15/user/month), which pools 50 MB of process-mining capacity per license into a 100 GB tenant-wide cap; a $5,000/tenant/month Process Mining add-on raises that ceiling. Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management ships a native template that reads the platform's own closed warehouse work records with no custom event-log engineering, while a Power BI Premium license is needed to customize the underlying report.
