Yingst Building Group: Building the Future On A 50-Year Legacy

Construction
Challenge: In April 2025 Yingst Homes was acquired by BBK Holdings, forming Yingst Building Group (YBG). The new leadership group focuses on driving efficiency through technology and expanding the company’s footprint. Before the transition to Sage Intacct, Yingst Homes and BBK Holdings had data in two separate on-premises legacy systems, lacking both flexibility and visibility. They required a system with massive storage capacity and cloud-based accessibility so that every transaction could be backed by digital proof (contracts, COIs, and OSHA certifications), streamlining audits and eliminating manual rework.
Solution: The YBG team thoroughly examined Sage Intacct and found it met all their needs for today and tomorrow. Controller Joseph Campbell explained, "Pound for pound, it is the best accounting software that I’ve come across." The implementation of Sage Intacct began even before the acquisition was finalized. The rollout was handled in three strategic phases to ensure the finance team was ready for when they officially began operating as one company, beginning with core accounting, then project and job costing and finally by connecting strategic integrations.
Result: Moving to a cloud-based solution meant that YBG had a single source of truth. They could now attach every contract, vendor insurance certificate, and OSHA document directly to the transaction. Yingst is now prepared to scale to 1,000 homes a year, focusing on regions that national builders often overlook. By revitalizing these areas, Yingst is helping first-time builders realize their dreams and allowing local economies to thrive.

Roush Yates Engines Tackles their Supply Chain with Sage X3

Manufacturing
Challenge: Founded as a performance engine manufacturer, Roush Yates originally implemented Sage X3 to track the more than 850 individual components power every Roush Yates engine. When the pandemic struck, racing shut down for months; Roush Yates knew it needed to diversify to compete in a changing world. “Like businesses everywhere, we were hit hard initially, but we wanted to keep our employees working so we shifted gears, diversifying to other areas of manufacturing,” Todd English, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, recalls. “Our equipment is state-of-the-art, and we were able to begin producing face shields, parts for ventilators, and even defense equipment.
Solution: Our software platform was highly instrumental in facilitating the shift. We have accurate forecasting models and deep supply-chain visibility that gave us the information we needed to proceed.” Roush Yates immediately reached out to its suppliers to identify which ones had concerns or issues relating to supply demand. “We preordered several months’ worth of supplies to ensure we could maintain our commitments,” English says. “Using the information from Sage X3, we provided suppliers with accurate forecast demand that helped them stay on track. Overall, I feel our supply chain management has been a huge success.”
Result: Thanks to its diversification successes, Roush Yates grew revenues during the pandemic. Following its move into the defense and aerospace industries, Roush Yates recognized that its agility had become its competitive advantage. “We’re used to making adjustments to our operations in real time,” says English. “These industries are in constant development, and failure is not an option. With our technology platform, we can move quickly to research, develop, machine, and test parts in order to expedite the time to market. Without the solid infrastructure we’ve built, both on the factory floor and in the back office, we would we not have the success we’re seeing, and it’s possible we would have struggled through the pandemic.” He concludes, “During the time we’ve had Sage X3, we’ve developed from an engine company to a high-performance CNC machining division.

How Wells Johnson Moved from Manual Operations to Automated Excellence with Sage 100

Medical Device Manufacturing
Challenge: While an innovator in its field, Wells Johnson’s back office was anchored in the past. The legacy systems were unsupported, unstable, and entirely manual. This posed significant business risks. Manual processes were incredibly slow with a high risk of error and lack of critical insight. The company didn’t have a centralized place to consolidate and analyze all the data.
Solution: In a market often captivated by unproven tech, they selected Sage 100, a battle-tested ERP known for its reliability—a critical trait for a manufacturer of medical instruments. The modular nature of Sage 100 offered the perfect path forward. The Wells Johnson team was able to scale itself into where it needed to be,” thus ensuring their company could adopt new functionality as their business evolved without a massive upfront investment in features they wouldn’t initially use.
Result: With the foundation set, Wells Johnson began leveraging Sage 100 to systematically eliminate manual tasks and automate critical workflows. This digital leap has been a game-changer for their short and long-term efficiency and accuracy. Years after going live, the stability and data clarity achieved with Sage 100 are precisely what enable Wells Johnson to navigate the volatile market with confidence.

Securing Delaware County Solid Waste Authority's 70-year Legacy with Sage Intacct

Waste Management
Challenge: The Delaware County Solid Waste Authority is a critical regional utility provider. Being a non-profit enterprise means that their financial operations are unique, requiring absolute transparency to ensure fiduciary responsibility and maintain public trust with their Board and the residents they serve. Yet as the accounting team recorded every penny spent on public infrastructure, their internal technological infrastructure was holding them back. While dedicated to maintaining the community's foundation, it was failing to keep its own operations current. The core problem lay with a Chart of Accounts (COA) that was fundamentally ill-equipped to deal with the complexity of the growing organization. Its old financial tracking system posed a major problem since it simply did not have the necessary visibility, dimensions, or structural sophistication to manage the finances of a large, asset-heavy company. This major limitation led to a culture of manual work and delayed insight. All detailed reporting and analysis were carried out manually in Excel, which meant pulling data from PDF reports—a process that was time-consuming, prone to error, and always retrospective. A parallel issue was unfolding on the technology front. While a modern financial solution was the priority, the underlying IT infrastructure was fragile and outdated, and the support model was broken. The biggest challenge wasn't just old equipment, but the absence of high-availability customer service and proactive care: "Any time an end-user needed support, their issue would have to wait until our consultant was available, which was often days and sometimes weeks," the CFO recalled. "That was extremely difficult in a business situation." The challenges facing the Delaware County Solid Waste Authority required a partner who was capable of tackling both a deep financial overhaul, as well as a critical IT infrastructure failure. DeLeon realized that the solution had to be comprehensive, choosing RKL not just for technical expertise but as a single, accountable strategic advisor.
Solution: The multi-dimensional functionality of Sage Intacct was the essential feature required to enable data-driven decision-making, replacing the vague "Notes" field, thus allowing expenses to be tracked by project, location, and department. DeLeon presented her vision for the new COA using Sage Intacct with the Authority’s Board and CEO. Being familiar with various Sage Intacct partners in the region and conducting extensive research into customer service ratings, Lisa chose RKL eSolutions for their proven ability to handle this dual mandate. RKL deployed a comprehensive, two-pronged strategy to modernize the Authority: - Financial Modernization: Implementing Sage Intacct—a powerful, cloud-based solution. - Operational Stability: Introducing a robust Managed IT Support partner model. The partnership quickly flourished, focusing on collaboration. “Our consultant at RKL was experienced, professional, able to think outside the box and was truly a collaborative and supportive business partner that helped ensure our success.”
Result: The transformation was dramatic. With the new foundations set, the culture of manual work and delayed insight was a thing of the past. The organization gained a rapid and accurate overview of their operations, which allowed them to make near real-time decisions and remain on top of their financial activities. DeLeon stated that, for the first time, they were able to be proactive, thus opening a new horizon for the DCSWA. Sage Intacct’s dimensional structure and automation meant that the organization gained hours of valuable work by eliminating the time-consuming, manual Excel reporting and exporting of data from PDFs. The transition to Sage Intacct allowed for near real-time financial visibility and insight which transformed the decision-making process. DCSWA’s most significant transformations include: AP Automation: Manual AP process eliminated with invoices emailed directly into Sage Intacct with invoice images attached to each AP record. Period-End Close: Amount of time taken to close each month and year has been significantly reduced. Real-Time Insights: Monthly P&Ls (profit & loss), balance sheets, and cash flow statements became easily and instantly available. Strategic Assets: DCSWA gained full utilization of Sage Intacct’s fixed assets and prepaid expense modules, which ensured accurate tracking and reporting for critical infrastructure. “Sage Intacct supports our internal controls; it provides us with robust features, and it is intuitive to use. The pricing of Sage Intacct in comparison to competitors was an excellent fit for our organization and budget,” added DeLeon. The wide-ranging overhaul has provided the DCSWA with the tools and infrastructure they needed to confidently support its long-term mandate. The results were immediate, both in the back office and the boardroom. “We have seen a significant reduction in the amount of time it takes us to close each month and year as well as in the amount of time it takes to input AP transactions and record revenue. As well, reporting for both the Board and internal stakeholders takes less time, is more consistent and provides transparency and insight quickly.”

M.S. Hershey Foundation streamlines financial processes with Sage Intacct, using the time saved to focus on their mission

Nonprofit
Challenge: For many years, The Foundation relied on The Hershey Trust Company to carry out all their bookkeeping. While this system seemed to streamline financials, The Foundation continued to grow, and it became evident that it needed its own accounting system. This was the case when Bridget Beck, Associate Executive Director at The M.S. Hershey Foundation, joined the organization in 2007. "There was no system, no policies, no procedures set," she recalls. The situation became even more complicated as it expanded, adding new facilities, such as the building constructed at the gardens in 2016. "My dream was to get a system where all financial aspects could be visible and communicate seamlessly. Ideally, a single platform to manage everything, or at least allow for data exchange between existing systems,” said Beck.
Solution: M.S. Hershey Foundation was working with RKL's accounting practice for their audits. “When they heard I was looking for an alternative, they reached out to me to introduce the RKL eSolutions practice. We opened the conversation to see whether this could be the right fit for us” recalled Beck. “I heard very good things about RKL eSolutions, and it was all about perfect fit and perfect timing." Beck explained to the RKL eSolutions team what issues she wanted the system to address as well as the organization’s limitations. "The biggest component to consider was our lack of IT resources. The Foundation doesn't have an IT department, and we simply don't have the expertise to manage our systems effectively. We used Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, which has a robust IT department that manages our backups, email, and security. It just wasn’t working for our financial systems,” She explained. She decided a cloud-based system was a better option. Sage Intacct and the support team at RKL eSolutions, with a single point of contact for support, became the deciding factor in choosing Sage Intacct.
Result: Sage Intacct’s advanced features, such as nonprofit revenue recognition, grant management, and multi-entity consolidation, transformed the Foundation's workflow. Intacct improved data accuracy by eliminating data entry errors and inconsistencies across different systems to save time and resources. Beck said that in terms of efficiency, Sage Intacct has been revolutionary: “It has made an unbelievable change. Instead of having to manually enter the daily transactions from both our ticketing and our retail, everything is carried out automatically, and we only go through and proof. This saves us easily 24 hours of reconciling and input each week. For some of our payables entries, what used to take us hours now takes fifteen minutes of our day now that we can import journal detail!" This dramatic reduction of the workload has freed up valuable resources, allowing the company to focus on strategic initiatives rather than being bogged down by mundane tasks. “We've embarked on projects that have been on my to-do list for years because we have the time to focus on something other than plugging in journal entries.”

Sage Intacct becomes a Time Saver for Hall Ambulance

Healthcare
Challenge: Before deciding to make the switch to Intacct, Hall Ambulance was using Sage 300 for all of their accounting needs. “It handled all facets of accounting, the P&L, the general ledger, reporting, accounts payable, etc. We also used it for analytics and managing the chart of accounts,” says Michelle Garretson, Financial Controller at Hall Ambulance. But Sage 300 proved to be too time-consuming and dated to keep up with their growth. “We could run reports, but had no way to know what the details were, the reports were just numbers and we couldn’t drill down to get the information that we were looking for. If an error occurred, we would have to run a report to find out what was posted, add an adjusting journal entry, and go back to run another report to make sure that it was posted correctly. It just took a lot of back and forth correcting entries,” says Garretson. The final straw came when Hall Ambulance started having server issues in June of 2019. Garretson says, “It disrupted our access to our accounting program. We did not want to continue updating information over and over, so we were forced to process everything manually.” It was at this time that the accounting team started researching new accounting software–specifically, cloud-based solutions. “We wanted to make sure that it was cloud-based so that we would not be put in that position again," says Garretson.
Solution: Following their company’s culture of technological progress, in March 2020, Hall Ambulance’s accounting team went live with a new Sage Intacct cloud financial management solution. Garretson goes on to explain how Sage Intacct’s features and approved compliance made the most impact on their decision. “We did look at several other products… I wasn’t as impressed with the other software companies as I was with the ease-of- use and the user-friendly design of Sage Intacct. It was also the only accounting software that was approved by the AICPA and named as their preferred accounting provider, which made a huge difference to me. That meant that we would be gaining an accounting program that is GAAP compliant.” When the decision was made to move forward in the implementation process, Hall Ambulance turned to the RKL team. “The experience was very, very robust. We met with the RKL team in our office, and they answered all our questions directly. Nothing felt held back.”
Result: Now after implementing Sage Intacct, Hall Ambulance has seen a huge difference in their accounting processes with Intacct’s transparency and ease of use. Garretson says “after a solid year of use, I’m even more impressed and very happy with the functionality and the software itself. It was very easy to learn, easy to move in and out of the modules, and is very user-friendly. Running reports, pulling financial data, and adding new accounts to the general ledger tree are all very easy to accomplish.” These aren’t the only benefits either, as Garretson says she has also seen a valuable increase in time and risk reduction. “The staff is more productive after using Sage Intacct now that we can see a transaction in detail, without going back and forth to the various modules. The risk reduction is a huge factor, by being on a cloud- based software, we have greatly reduced the risk of having our accounting processes come to a complete halt if our system fails or if there’s a hardware problem. ” Overall, Hall Ambulance is very happy with Sage Intacct thus far and the support they receive from RKL. “They are available by phone or email if we ever need them for any help now or down the road.” When asked whether she had advice for anyone considering migrating to Sage Intacct from Sage 300, she simply said: “Do it. You won’t be sorry—we absolutely love the software, love that we can do it anywhere and that it’s very, very user-friendly.”
