Overview

Grant Lifecycle Manager (GLM) is Foundant Technologies' cloud-based grants management system built for grantmaking foundations -- community, family, private, corporate and health-care foundations, plus government and research funders. Foundant reports 2,300+ GLM client foundations and $22B+ in 2025 grant and scholarship awards processed across its products. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Bozeman, Montana, Foundant announced a strategic merger with SmartSimple Software in August 2024 (backed by L Squared Capital Partners); the two companies continue to operate under their own brands.

GLM covers the grant lifecycle from initial inquiry through application, review and payment: branching-logic application forms, online reviewer scoring with AI-generated application summaries, anonymized review to reduce bias, installment-based payment scheduling, and follow-up/outcome reporting. It includes unlimited user licenses for applicants, reviewers, board members and staff.

It integrates with QuickBooks Online for accounting sync, DocuSign for e-signature, Candid/GuideStar for applicant nonprofit-status verification, Workato for custom automations, and Foundant's own CommunitySuite for foundations that also need fund accounting.
