Discrete, project & engineer-to-order manufacturing

Infor LN Consultants

Infor LN is Infor's ERP for discrete, project-based and engineer-to-order manufacturing — industrial machinery, automotive supply, aerospace and defence, and high-tech. It descends from Baan, and that heritage still shapes the partner landscape: LN expertise is concentrated in Europe, especially Germany and the Netherlands, and many firms have supported the same customers across the Baan-to-LN transition. When shortlisting, establish which LN generation a consultant actually works on. Supporting a long-lived Baan IV or LN 6 estate is a different discipline from delivering current CloudSuite LN, and firms are not always explicit about which one they do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Infor LN the same as Baan?

Infor LN is the direct descendant of Baan ERP, which Infor acquired in 2006. The product line runs Baan IV and Baan V through Infor LN 6.1 and later to today's CloudSuite LN. Many long-standing LN partners have supported customers across that whole path, which is why you will still see Baan referenced in partner profiles.

What kind of manufacturers use Infor LN?

LN is aimed at discrete and project-based manufacturers — industrial machinery and equipment, automotive supply, aerospace and defence, high-tech and electronics. It handles engineer-to-order and make-to-order work, complex multi-level bills of material, and project accounting, which is where it differs most from Infor M3.

What should I ask an Infor LN consultant before appointing them?

Ask which LN versions they actively deliver and support, and how recently. The gap between firms maintaining older Baan/LN estates and those delivering current CloudSuite LN is wide and rarely visible from marketing material. Then ask for references from manufacturers with a comparable production mode — engineer-to-order experience does not transfer cleanly from repetitive manufacturing.
