Overview
MuleSoft Anypoint Platform is a unified integration and API management platform that lets enterprises connect applications, data, and devices using an API-led connectivity approach. Rather than building point-to-point integrations, Anypoint encourages teams to package integrations as reusable APIs organized into system, process, and experience layers, then catalog and reuse them across projects. The platform combines iPaaS capabilities with full API lifecycle management in a single environment.
The platform is built around several components: Anypoint Design Center for building APIs and integration flows, Anypoint Exchange as a reusable asset catalog of connectors and templates, the Mule runtime engine that executes integrations, and the Anypoint Management Center for analyzing, managing, and monitoring APIs and flows. Integrations are typically developed in Anypoint Studio (an Eclipse-based IDE) or the web-based Flow Designer, and run on CloudHub (MuleSoft's managed cloud), customer-managed runtimes, or in hybrid configurations.
MuleSoft was founded in 2006 and acquired by Salesforce in 2018. As part of Salesforce, the platform is positioned both as a standalone enterprise integration product and as the connectivity layer for Salesforce data and AI initiatives, with an extensive library of pre-built connectors for systems such as Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, and Workday.

Alternatives to MuleSoft Anypoint Platform in iPaaS
MuleSoft Anypoint Platform — frequently asked questions
Is MuleSoft only for Salesforce customers?
No. While MuleSoft is owned by Salesforce and serves as its integration layer, Anypoint Platform is a general-purpose enterprise integration and API platform used to connect many systems including SAP, Oracle, and Workday.
What is API-led connectivity?
It is MuleSoft's recommended approach of building reusable APIs in system, process, and experience layers so integrations can be composed and reused rather than built point-to-point each time.
Where do MuleSoft integrations run?
They run on the Mule runtime engine, which can be hosted in MuleSoft's managed CloudHub, in self-managed Runtime Fabric on Kubernetes, or on-premises in hybrid deployments.
