Overview

SAP Integration Suite is SAP's enterprise iPaaS, delivered as part of the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). It unifies several capabilities -- Cloud Integration (the former SAP Cloud Platform Integration / CPI), API Management, Open Connectors, Integration Advisor, Trading Partner Management/B2B, and event-driven messaging -- into a single suite for connecting SAP and non-SAP systems across cloud and on-premises landscapes. The platform is a natural fit for organizations standardizing on S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, Ariba, and other SAP cloud applications.

A distinguishing element is the large catalog of prepackaged integration content: SAP and partners publish ready-to-use integration flows (iFlows), value mappings, and APIs in the Integration Content Catalog, so teams can deploy best-practice integrations between SAP applications with minimal build effort. Cloud Integration provides a graphical iFlow designer with content-based routing, message transformation, and a broad set of adapters for protocols such as REST, SOAP, OData, IDoc, SFTP, and JMS, plus adapters for third-party systems.

SAP Integration Suite runs on SAP BTP across multiple hyperscaler regions, and SAP provides the Integration Advisor and machine-learning-assisted mapping to speed B2B and A2A integration. It is generally adopted by mid-size to large enterprises already invested in the SAP ecosystem.

  • Standardizing integration on SAP BTP for a hybrid SAP estate

Strengths & considerations

Strengths

  • Native, first-party iPaaS for the SAP ecosystem with deep S/4HANA and SAP cloud-app coverage
  • Large catalog of prepackaged best-practice integration content (iFlows) from SAP and partners
  • Integration Advisor uses machine learning to propose B2B/A2A mappings

Considerations

  • Greatest value is realized in SAP-centric landscapes; less specialized for non-SAP-heavy estates
  • Pricing via SAP BTP consumption/entitlements can be complex to model

Alternatives to SAP Integration Suite in iPaaS

SAP Integration Suite — frequently asked questions

Is SAP Integration Suite the same as SAP CPI?

SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI) is now delivered as the Cloud Integration capability within SAP Integration Suite, which also bundles API Management, Open Connectors, Integration Advisor, and B2B.

Does SAP Integration Suite only connect SAP systems?

No. While it has deep native SAP coverage, it includes adapters and Open Connectors for non-SAP SaaS and on-premises systems.

What is prepackaged integration content?

It is a catalog of ready-to-use integration flows (iFlows), value mappings, and APIs published by SAP and partners that customers can deploy and extend to shorten implementation time.
