Overview

Zapier is a no-code automation platform best known for connecting mainstream SaaS apps through pre-built triggers and actions called Zaps. For accounting and ERP-adjacent use cases, Zapier ships dedicated app integrations for QuickBooks Online, Xero and NetSuite, each exposing a specific list of triggers (such as a new invoice or new contact) and write actions (such as create invoice or update customer) that a user assembles into a workflow without writing code.

Unlike an enterprise iPaaS platform aimed at IT teams building governed, complex data pipelines, Zapier is built for business users connecting one app to another through a simple builder, and it is often the first integration tool a small or mid-size business reaches for to link its accounting system to sales, support or ecommerce tools.

The QuickBooks Online integration exposes 28 trigger events and more than 30 write actions covering invoices, bills, payments, customers and vendors. The Xero integration covers similar ground, including bank transactions, invoices, contacts and, for Australian instances, payroll events. The NetSuite integration supports standard and custom record creation, updates, upserts, bulk CSV import and SuiteQL queries, alongside 30-plus pre-built connections to other popular apps such as Salesforce, HubSpot and Shopify.
