Overview

Informatica MDM is a master data management offering delivered on Informatica's Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) platform. It consolidates customer, product, supplier, reference and other critical business data scattered across ERP, CRM and other systems into unified "golden records" that give a single, trusted view of each entity.

The product is organised into a family of "360" applications -- Customer 360, Product 360, Supplier 360, Reference 360 and Finance 360 -- each preconfigured for a specific master data domain, plus multidomain and on-premises MDM options for organisations not yet on the cloud platform. Matching and merging of duplicate records uses deterministic (exact) and probabilistic (fuzzy) algorithms, with configurable survivorship rules to decide which source wins for each attribute, and CLAIRE (Informatica's AI/ML engine) assists with match-rule tuning and natural-language exploration of mastered data.

For ERP customers, Informatica MDM is typically deployed alongside or on top of systems like SAP, Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics to govern shared master data -- customer, vendor, product/material and reference/code data -- that would otherwise be duplicated and inconsistent across those systems, then to publish cleansed golden records back out to the ERP and to downstream applications such as Salesforce.

Features & capabilities

Match, Merge & Golden Records

Core data unification engine for building a single trusted record per entity.

  • Deterministic (exact) and probabilistic (fuzzy) matching
  • AI-assisted match-rule tuning and recommendations
  • Configurable survivorship rules
  • Hard merge (permanent) and soft merge (linked, auditable) options
  • Hierarchy and relationship management

360 Domain Applications

Preconfigured MDM applications for specific master data domains.

  • Customer 360 (unified customer profiles for marketing, sales, support)
  • Product 360 / product information management
  • Supplier 360 (vendor onboarding, self-service, risk monitoring)
  • Reference 360 (reference data, code sets and cross-walks)
  • Finance 360

AI & Generative Capabilities (CLAIRE)

Embedded AI/ML engine assisting stewardship and data exploration.

  • CLAIRE-powered match tuning
  • Natural-language exploration of mastered records
  • AI-generated dataflows
  • Automated data classification

Data Stewardship & Governance

Business-user tools for reviewing, correcting and governing master data.

  • Role-based data steward console
  • Configurable business-user dashboards and network graphs
  • Workflow-driven review and approval
  • Audit trail for merges and edits

Connectivity & Integration

Connectors and integration tooling linking MDM to source and target systems.

  • 300-400+ pre-built cloud connectors
  • SAP Connector (IDoc, BAPI/RFC, ODP-based extraction)
  • Success-accelerator integration templates for SAP and Salesforce
  • Visual, low-code integration builder for custom connections
  • Headless / API-first data management

Common use cases

  • Creating a single golden customer record shared across SAP, Salesforce and other systems
  • Governing product/material master data (Product 360) to feed clean records into ERP and PIM systems
  • Onboarding and validating supplier/vendor records before they enter an ERP's vendor master
  • Centrally managing reference/code data (Reference 360) shared across multiple ERP instances
  • De-duplicating customer and vendor records inherited from mergers, acquisitions or legacy system consolidation
  • Extracting and mastering data from SAP via IDoc/BAPI/ODP connectors and publishing golden records back to SAP
  • Using CLAIRE AI to tune match/merge rules and explore mastered data via natural language

Strengths & considerations

Strengths

  • Domain-specific "360" applications (Customer, Product, Supplier, Reference, Finance) rather than a single generic MDM tool
  • CLAIRE generative-AI layer for match-rule tuning and natural-language interaction with mastered data
  • Large connector footprint (300-400+) spanning cloud and legacy on-premises systems including SAP, Oracle and NetSuite
  • Part of the broader Intelligent Data Management Cloud, combining MDM with data integration, quality, governance and catalog on one platform

Alternatives to Informatica MDM in Master Data Management

Informatica MDM — frequently asked questions

Does Informatica MDM integrate with SAP?

Yes. Informatica offers a SAP Connector that reads and writes SAP data via IDocs, BAPI/RFC or the ODP framework, plus published success-accelerator templates specifically for integrating MDM SaaS with SAP, so golden records can be synced bi-directionally with SAP systems.

What ERP systems does Informatica MDM connect to?

Informatica provides pre-built connectors for SAP, Oracle (including E-Business Suite), NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics, as part of a broader library of 300-400+ pre-built connectors, plus a visual low-code builder for custom integrations.

How much does Informatica MDM cost?

Informatica does not publish list pricing for MDM. Pricing is quote-based and depends on the data domains licensed (Customer 360, Product 360, Supplier 360, etc.), number of mastered records, user counts, and whether you deploy on the cloud (subscription) or on-premises (perpetual license plus maintenance).

What is a golden record in Informatica MDM?

A golden record is the single, authoritative version of a data entity (such as a customer, product or supplier) produced by Informatica's match, merge and survivorship process, which identifies duplicate or related records across source systems and consolidates them into one trusted record.
