Overview
Xodo Sign (formerly eversign) is a cloud-based electronic signature platform that lets users prepare documents, collect legally binding signatures, and manage signed agreements without per-document fees. Originally launched in 2017 by Julian and Paul Zehetmayr, the product was acquired by document-technology company Apryse (formerly PDFTron) in November 2022 and rebranded as Xodo Sign. It is positioned as a cost-conscious alternative to higher-priced eSignature suites, with flat per-seat pricing rather than per-envelope charges.
The platform covers the full signing workflow: drag-and-drop field placement, reusable templates, multi-recipient and bulk sending, in-person signing on any device, and tamper-evident audit trails that record names, emails, IP addresses, and timestamps. Built-in PDF editing tools support text insertion, annotation, redaction, and page reorganization, and an AI Summarizer surfaces key points from contracts before signing. Accounts can manage multiple business entities and team members under a single login.
For developers, Xodo Sign exposes a lightweight RESTful JSON API for embedding signing and document-request flows directly into applications, with official PHP, Node.js, and Python SDKs, webhook callbacks, and a free sandbox for testing. Because the product is ERP-agnostic and connects primarily through its API, Zapier, and storage/CRM integrations, it is commonly wired into back-office and sales workflows rather than shipped as a native connector for any single ERP.
